Notes:
A book describing the history of Ranelagh Estate from pre-history to the present. It has been written by a collaboration of 3 local authors whose total combined time as residents in Ranelagh exceeds 100 years.

Ranelagh Estate is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and classified by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria). A unique seaside corner of the Mornington Peninsula, its place in history is often overlooked and this is the first time a detailed history of Ranelagh Estate has been recorded. Ranelagh was designed in 1924 by world-renowned American architects, planners and designers Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahoney Griffin, who came to Australia to direct their winning international design for Australia’s Federal Capital. Today, Ranelagh Estate remains an outstanding example of the Griffins’ progressive environmental and philosophical ideals.

RANELAGH – A Special Place comprises approximately 200 pages of text, coloured illustrations and the usual index, contents and acknowledgements pages. With its many illustrations, maps, walking trails, copies of original documents, pictures of local identities, well-documented history and local gossip including many historic photographs not before published, it will appeal to tourists and locals alike.
