Notes:
Charles Henry Hoskins (1851-1926) was the first man to establish the iron and steel industry in Australia successfully on an economic basis. A rugged, self-made man, with tremendous character, with faith in Australia and the will to survive against the odds, he helped to pioneer the industry and lay the solid foundations of Australia's present-day mammoth iron and steel development.

The story and facts of this great pioneering venture are recorded first hand in this book as they have never before been written.

The author, Sir Cecil Hoskins, the only surviving son of Charles Henry Hoskins, has spent a dynamic life time within the iron and steel industry, commencing as a lad alongside his father and continuing through until his own retirement.

The book is presented in all sincerity for historical purposes as a true record and, as its name conveys, it is also the saga of the family of Charles and Emily Hoskins and their descendants.
