The Posh and the Riff Raff tells how, St Kilda was once home to the richest, most powerful people in the country, who hired staff they didn’t pay, abused slaves from overseas and used child labour. They owned the beautiful mansions still dotted around St Kilda, which they abandoned when their gold boom fortunes dwindled, industrialisation made it impossible to get staff, and worst of all, the Riff Raff arrived.
