A history of Marathon House, Toorak. Biographies of land owners: James Jackson, John Mark Davies, Robert Jonathan Jeffray. Biographies of the occupants of Marathon: Robert Arthur Forbes, Charles Lucas Griffith, Leslie Mitchell Macpherson, James Murray Pittendrigh, Thamas Bibby Guest, Spastic Society of Victoria. The Spastic Children’s Society of Victoria was founded by a small number of people to support children with cerebral palsy in Victoria. The first site opens in the 1940s in the Toorak Mansion ‘Marathon’, provided by the State. The building was the headquarters for 30 years. Marathon House was demolished in 1979. The Spastic Children’s Society of Victoria (1948) became the Spastic Society of Victoria and then became Scope.
