Notes: |
This is the story of Dame Jean Macnamara, known as 'The Dame' to thousands of Australians who benefited from her successes in the fight to control polio and the equally vital battle to control the country's devastating rabbit plagues of the 1940s and 50s.
A dynamic little woman, she did much to alleviate the suffering of polio afflicted children and unknowingly wrote herself into medical history - both in Australia and overseas.
