Cover title. In 1928 and 1929 the developing technologies of wireless and aviation joined forces to market the Australian designed and built Astor radios. The Astor Radio Aeroplane (a De Havilland Moth), travelled from town to town covering large areas of Victoria and South Australia. To a lesser degree parts of New South Wales and Queensland were visited also. There were promotions giving rides to holders of lucky numbers or owners of Astor Radios as well as support for charities and fund raising. But in the background were lessons learnt in The Great War. A small part of Australia's defence future was being put into place by encouraging aviation with the creation of a network of township landing grounds.
