The foundation stone of the Stratford Wesleyan Methodist Church was laid in April 1873. The church closed in 1977 with the formation of the Uniting Church. About 1980 the Avon Shire Council arranged for its occupation by the Historical Society. In 2004, the building was purchased for the Society by a benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous. What follows is the story since 2004.
