Notes: |
First published as a serial in the Sydney Mail in 1871. The story is about three children, left to the guardianship of their uncle, and the treatment which they and their mother, who had married above her station, received at his hands. It is also a satire on the English aristocracy. It is an Australian look at English pride and Louis Atkinson laughs at this attitude. It is set in the period after the gold rushes.
