Bibliography p. 55. Daniel Woodriff, an experienced and highly-regarded naval officer, was captain of the H.M.S. Calcutta which transported a group of some 300 convicts to Port Phillip in 1803.
In this selection, Woodriff recorded daily life on board ship. Not surprisingly, much of what Woodriff wrote was mundane, but there are unexpected surprises so that the record of events is in fact informative and rarely dull.
