Read by P. Winfield - Churchwarden on Friday November 13th, 1959. On the occasion of a visit of Church of England Historical Society, Diocese of Melbourne to that Paish. (Page 1). The Reverend C, P. M. Bardin was ordained at Killaloe, Ireland, in 1849. He came out to Bothwell, Tasmania, in 1850, then to Victoria, Where he was Assistant at St. Peter's, Melbourne in 1854. From January 1st, 1855 he was in charge of the Parish or parochial district of Brunswick, Phillipstown and Flemington.
For a few months he continued services at the school at Phillipstown, as well as at Flemington, but the former place, not being central within greater Brunswick, a public hall in Sydney Road called the "Athenaeum" with a seating capacity of about 60 was rented weekly from the month of June and there services were held until the church was built in 1857.
